Press Release

Thesis experiences significant growth in 2019, continues momentum in 2020.

For Immediate Release:

PORTLAND, OR—Mar 2, 2020—Thesis, an award-winning digital agency, grew revenue by 74 percent and added 45 new team members in 2019. Since January 1, the company has continued its hiring surge, adding another 12 team members, which brings the total employee count to 135. And it’s not slowing down.

The agency’s organic expansion has been driven largely by increased engagements with its current clients. A booming relationship with Adobe has been the main catalyst for recent growth across all departments, and continued thriving partnerships with Taco Bell, as well as the world’s largest athletic footwear and apparel manufacturer, have also contributed greatly.

“At Thesis, we strive to build long-term strategic partnerships with our clients and make their business goals our own,” said Ryan Buchanan, CEO of Thesis. “By continuing to push boundaries, innovate, and deliver work that exceeds expectations, we’ve been able to establish trust and build deeper relationships with our clients.”

2019 was an especially transformative year for Thesis. In addition to staff and revenue growth, the agency rebranded, moved into a larger office in Portland’s Pearl District, and made key adjustments to their organizational structure. Thesis expanded its C-suite with the promotions of Keely York to President and Chief Operating Officer and Isaac Lee Morris to Chief Product Officer. The company also introduced an innovation lab, the Shed, where their most ambitious ideas are pursued in an environment that is financially sustainable.

But one of the most notable changes has been Thesis’s intentionality in creating an inclusive culture. In 2016, Buchanan co-founded Emerging Leaders, an internship and mentorship program that challenges business leaders to actively foster diversity, equity, and inclusion in their own companies. In that time, Thesis has been more intentional in creating a more equitable workplace, leading to increased employee diversity, with 33 percent of the agency’s employees identifying as non-white, up from 12 percent in 2015. Thesis remains deeply committed to these ongoing efforts, recently initiating a year-long DEI program to ensure the essential practice is sustainable for the long term.

“It’s been an exciting time at Thesis with our people and partners thriving,” said Keely York, Thesis President and COO. “We have a startup vibe paired with nearly two decades of experience under our belt and it’s a great combination. Our intentionality in creating an inclusive culture that not only attracts but retains awesome talent and breeds innovation has contributed greatly to our growth. Our model, which balances the needs of our team members and clients equally, produces better end results for everyone.”

Thesis is not a new agency, but their evolution in the last year makes it hard to recognize. Having evolved well beyond its email roots to become a full-service digital resource for some of the biggest brands in the world, this year’s growth has created a momentum that is sure to carry this people-first agency to even greater heights.
